The Founder’s Story

From these challenges grew a vision — to restore empathy to healthcare and open doors for promising medical students who face financial or social barriers.
UBMEF stands as a reflection of this journey: born out of adversity, strengthened by compassion, and driven by purpose. Through scholarships, community health programs, and advocacy, the Foundation continues to transform lives and inspire hope.
Motivation Behind This Initiative​
Two personal experiences have shaped my commitment to this cause:
1. The erosion of values in the medical system: I’ve witnessed several disturbing trends in the medical field, where the focus has shifted from saving lives to profiteering. This has led to a decline in the quality of care and a lack of empathy for the sick and those in need.
2. Personal experience of denial: I was twice denied the opportunity to study medicine, first due to religious bias and secondly because of sectionalism. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by those who are marginalized and excluded.
In my personal journey, I had aspired to pursue higher education in medicine and other fields in the United States and the United Kingdom. Although I received admission offers from reputable institutions, financial constraints prevented me from enrolling. This experience has instilled in me a deep desire to support young individuals with promising potential in the medical field who face similar financial challenges. I am committed to empowering them to achieve their academic and professional goals.
