UBMEF Launches Free Medical Outreach in Rural Communities

Bringing Healthcare Closer to the Underserved

Umar Benjamin’s Medical and Endowment Foundation (UBMEF) recently completed a seven-day free medical outreach program across three underserved communities in Northern Nigeria — Karu, Gwagwalada, and Keffi. The initiative provided essential healthcare services to over 1,200 residents, focusing on those who cannot afford medical treatment or live far from healthcare facilities.

The outreach offered a full range of services including free consultations, blood pressure and sugar level checks, malaria and typhoid testing, maternal care, child immunization, and distribution of essential drugs.
In addition, UBMEF volunteers conducted health education sessions covering hygiene, nutrition, family planning, and disease prevention.

“Our goal is simple — to restore hope and health where access to medical care has become a privilege,” said Umar Benjamin, Founder of UBMEF.
“We believe healthcare is a right, not a luxury, and we’re committed to reaching the most vulnerable.”

Community Impact

For many residents, this outreach was the first time they had access to free and professional healthcare. Patients with chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes were enrolled for continuous follow-up and support through local community health workers trained by UBMEF.

The foundation also donated medical supplies, mosquito nets, and sanitation kits, improving hygiene and reducing the spread of infectious diseases.

Mothers expressed gratitude for the free maternal care and medications provided, while youths volunteered to assist the medical team — reinforcing the spirit of community collaboration UBMEF stands for.

Looking Ahead

This initiative is part of UBMEF’s broader Community Health Access Program (CHAP) — a long-term plan to ensure every community in Nigeria, no matter how remote, can access affordable, quality healthcare.

UBMEF aims to expand the program to more states by the end of the year, working with local clinics, medical schools, and partner organizations to train community health aides and establish mobile health units for ongoing support.
